RMI in the big city of Bilaspur!
"THE LORD HAS DONE GREAT THINGS FOR US…"
The Lord has called us and sent us to a big city of Bilaspur in the tribal State of Chattisgarh, India.
Some years ago we saw the need and heard the appeal of young adolescent girls who flocked to the highly populated cities of India like Delhi and Mumbai in search of domestic work. Their education had been truncated at the primary level. However these young girls, fourteen years and below, could not be employed as it is against the law. The Holy Spirit inspired us, the Religious of Mary Immaculate, to go out to meet this need.
We felt that it was necessary to go to a City nearer to the villages from where they came, establish a community of sisters and offer these young girls a “Home” and an opportunity to complete their secondary school education, and, as far as possible, opportunities for pre-university and university education and at the same time prepare them for future careers like nursing, teaching, jobs in Government offices where there are reservations for tribals. All this has been denied them because of extreme poverty. The RMI will therefore have to find resources to make this dream come true.
The first step was taken on 4th March 2017, when the foundation stone was blessed by the Parish Priest Rev. Father Thomas in the presence of Sisters Philomena Gonsalves, (Provincial), Margaret Crasto (Provincial bursar) and Sumitra Parmar who has been there on the spot working hard to do the necessary groundwork; together with the Cenacle Sisters of the Sacred Heart who have been our Guardian angels from 2010. The Architect and contractor, Mr. Bosco Monteiro and Mr. Daniel Monteiro along with their families were present for the blessing of the foundation.
The building work has started in full swing. We count on your prayers and support to accomplish this project. Do join us in thanking the Lord for entrusting us with this new mission. May He continue to lead us and guide us on our journey.
We have attached some pictures of the blessing of the foundation stone.
With much love and prayers.
